The week I spent visiting my mother’s family was more than a vacation; it was an eye-opener. They’re so warm and accepting. When I get home, I’m going to do it. I’m going to start being my true self. I know it won’t be easy.

It’s time to stop lessening myself to fit in with my father’s family and the town I grew up in. I’m going to start reaching for the things I want in life. I love Connor and I want to be with him. Dad and his family won’t like that my boyfriend is bisexual, but this is my life, not theirs.
